A valid Farm Business Registration number (FBR number) will give you access to a number of benefits.
With a valid FBR number producers can:
Pay 25 percent property tax on agricultural land versus 100 percent of rural property value as determined by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC).
Obtain OFA, CFFO or NFU-O Membership
Obtain membership with either the Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA), Christian Farmers Federation of Ontario (CFFO), or National Farmer’s Union-Ontario (NFU-O).

New Farms
If you are new to farming and have not yet grossed $7,000 in farm income from the previous year, you need to contact OMAFRA’s farm property tax office for a gross farm income exemption called a startup exemption.
Qualifying Farms
If you have grossed $7,000 in farm income, contact Agricorp to register as a farm business then contact OMAFRA’s farm property tax office.
